Dangme East Integrated Rural Development Programme

By providing training centres, e.g. in crop farming, fishery, building & construction etc., for disadvantaged youths, young adults and women, the programme aims to improve income and living conditions and to reduce migration. In these centres, self-employment and small scale enterprises are promoted. There are classes in bookkeeping, marketing and management and the opportunity to obtain soft loans.

Products like vegetables or handicrafts are produced to generate income for the centres and provide trainees with the opportunity to practice their marketing and small business skills. A community FM radio station broadcasts educational programmes in co-operation with the programme.

Construction of a training centre for blacksmiths in Sege, and one of our traiees working at it
